Objectives: This study was to assess the diagnostic value of fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) in detecting the upper urinary tract urothelial carcinoma (UUTUC) by comparing it with cytology using systemic analyses of studies published in both English and Chinese. Methods: The studies regarding FISH and cytology in the detection of upper urinary tract urothelial carcinoma (UUTUC) were searched from PudMed, OVID, Cochrane Library, CNKI, Wanfangdata and SinoMed databases. The studies fulfilling the inclusion criteria were selected. The QUADAS items were used for quality assessment in our systematic review. Data of these studies were extracted for calculation of pooled odds ratio, likelihood ratio, sensitivity and specificity.Summary receiver operating curve and area under curve (AUC) were produced with Meta-DiSc software. Results: fifteen trials were included. The pooled sensitivity and specificity of FISH test were0.82(95%CI0.78-0.85) and0.93(95%CI0.90-0.96), respectively. The pooled sensitivity and specificity of cytology were0.36(95%CI0.32-0.40) and0.96(95%CI0.94-0.98), respectively. The AUC for FISH and cytology were0.9465and0.6263, respectively. Conclusion:From this Meta-analysis, FISH test is proved to have better diagnostic value in detection of UUTUC.
