Changes In The Expression Of Transforming Growth Factor Alpha And Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor On Portal Hypertensive Gastropathy Healing In Patients

Object:This study was designed to evaluate the expression of transforming growth factor alpha and epidermal growth factor receptor in portal hypertensive human gastric mucosa and to investigate their roles in portal hypertensive gastropathy healing.Method:We had 10 normal adults as control group. Fifty-four patients with portal hypertension were divided into three groups according to the finding of endoscopy with or without portal hypertensive gastropathy and the degree of serverity and the location of portal hypertensive gastropathy were recorded.18 patients with moderate PHG and 6 patients with severe PHG would be given propranolol to heal PHG and observe the healing.6 patients with moderate PHG and 5 patients with severe PHG would not be given propranolol to be as control group.The spicemens were obtained, afterward to perform HE staining,PNCA,TUNEL and ELISA to measure.Results:The severity of the PHG has a positive interrelationship with the liver function(P<0.01). The expression of transforming growth factor alpha and epidermal growth factor receptor in the gastric mucosal in the patients with severe PHG is significantly lower than the control group and the patients just with portal hypertension or with moderate PHG. Moreover, The gastric mucosal contents of TGF alpha and EGFR were not significantly different in the control and the patients with hepatic cirrhotics with or without PHG. But, The gastric mucosal contents of TGF-aand EGFR in the PHG healing group was significantly higher than the other groups.Conclusion:The liver function has a close interrelationship with portal hypertensive gastropathy. And the enhancement in cell proliferation during PHG healing may be mediated by increased release of TGF alpha and EGFR which may be involved in PHG healing.
