Objective: To investigate the expression and significance of survivin in active hepatic stellate cells(HSCS).Methods: The expressions of survivin were detected in actived HSCS by RT-PCR,immunofluorescence and western-blot, and hepatic carcinoma cells ,primary HSCS and normal liver cells were as control groups. Results: Expressions of survivin mRNA in actived HSCS were obviously higher than those of in normal liver cells and primary HSCS by RT-PCR.There was statistical difference between actived HSCS and normal liver cells (p<0.05). There was statistical difference between actived HSCS and primary HSCS(p<0.05),but the expression of survivin mRNA in Hepatic carcinoma cells was the highest in four group cells. Expressions of survivin in actived HSCS were obviously higher than the those of in normal liver cells and primary HSCS. The expression rates of them were 66.07%±8.55%, 9.74%±2.68% and 10.02%±2.21%.There was statistical difference between actived HSCS and normal liver cells (p<0.05).There was statistical difference between actived HSCS and primary HSCS also(p<0.05).The expression rates of Hepatic carcinoma cells were the highest in four groups cells(69.41±9.10%).Expressions of survivin in actived HSCS were obviously higher than those of in normal liver cells and primary HSCS by Western Blot. There was statistical difference between actived HSCS and normal liver cells(p<0.05).There was statistical difference between actived HSCS and primary HSCS also(p<0.05).But the expression of survivin in Hepatic carcinoma cells was the highest in four groups cells. Conclusion: There was higher survivin expression showed in actived HSCS. This basic theory was provided for gene treatment of heptatic fibrosis.
