BackgroudMultiple myeloma is the second high-risk malignant tumor in the hematology. The tranditional chemotherapy is inefficient, and autolougous hemapoietic stem cell transplantation becomes the fisrt line therapy in the patients who is under 65 years old so far. With the new drugs, the therapy of multiple myeloma has been developed rapidly. The effect of regiment concluding velcade and autolougous hemapoietic stem cell transplantion is summarized in this paper.ObjectiveImproving the cognition of multiple myeloma and the effect of the following regimen which is consisted of velcade and HD-Melphan supported by autologous stem cell transplantation.MethodsReport the enduring course of one MM patient with the regimen of HD-Melphan supported by autologous hemapoietic stem cell transplantation and velcade, and the related literature reviewed.ResultsThe patient complaining chest, wrest and back pains as the first symptom was diagnosed as multiple myeloma(IgA IIIA).There was no response after three courses of VAD regimen. The patient achieves VGPR with one cycle treatmemt of velcade regimen, then he achieve CR through pretreatment of high-dose melphalan and following an autologous stem cell transplantation. After 15 months, the paitient relapsed and retrieved again by re-use of a regiment including velcade.ConclusionDuring the induction and pro-transplantation treatment of the MM patient who is available for the autologous stem cell transplatation, the regimen including velcade can attain good effect. So, the regimen containing velcade and transplantation in newly diagnosed MM should be studied further.
