Objective:To study the clinical significance of TNF-αand TNF-βdetermination in diagnosis and prognosis of patients with lymphoma. Methods:The serum levels of TNF-αand TNF-βin 51 healthy subjects and 87 cases with lymphoma pre and post chemotherapy were measured by Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) respectively. Results:Serum level of TNF-αwas significantly higher in patients with lymphoma than control group, and post-chemotherapy group was lower than that of the pre-chemotherapy group(P<0.05); After chemotherapy treatment, the serum level of TNF-a in CR and PR patients was lower than invalid group. In pre-chemotherapy group the serum level of TNF-αin Ann Arbor stageⅠ-Ⅱpatients were lower than those in stage III-IV patients(p<0.05). Plasma level of TNF-a in B symptoms present group was significantly higher then B symptoms absent group(P<0.05).The difference of the serum levels of TNF-βbetween Han and Uyghur cases were insignificant(P>0.05).Serum level of TNF-βwas significantly higher in patients with lymphoma than control group, and post-chemotherapy group was lower than that of the pre-chemotherapy group(P>0.05); The serum levels of TNF-P was higher in men than women older than 60 years of age than those in younger than 60 years old group. Serum level of TNF-βin stage III-IV was higher than the stageⅠ-Ⅱgroup, B group was higher than group A, no remission than remission group, but the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). Comparison between different ethnic groups, serum level of TNF-P in Uyghur was higher than Han, but the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). Studies have shown correlation between the levels of TNF-a, TNF-βwere not significant (P>0.05). And there were no correlation between age and the serum levels of TNF-a and TNF-β(P>0.05).Conclusions:Dynamic changes in serum TNF level can be used as an indicator of therapeutic effect as well as prognosis. Compared with the Han nationality, the serum level of TNF in Uyghur nationality were not significant differences.
