Objective:To explore the use of levodopa in treatment of ametropoc amblyopoa by comparing the therapeutic effect of levodopa with traditional therapy in the old children and youth. Methods:In this retrospective controlled clinical tria,116 patients between 7 and 18years who were newly diagnosed ametropic amblyopia in Fourth Hospital of Kunming medical college were analyzed. They were divided randomly into levodopa with traditional therapy(Trial group) and. (Contral group). The trial group had 54 patients with 96 pair of eyes and with mean age of 12.47±2.67 years and contral group had 62 cases with 106 pair of eyes and mean age of 12.85±2.306 years. The Trial group were divided into Trial group A and Trial group B according the patient'compliance.Trial group A while were better compliance were 26 peaple with 46 pair of eyes. The compliance of Trial group B were poor and had 28 patients with 50pair of eyes. According the patient'compliance,Contral group were divided into Contral group A(better compliance) and Contral group B(poor compliance). Contral group A were 32 patients with 51 pair of eyes and Contral group B were 30 peaple with 58 pair of eyes. After 1% atropine eye water dropped eyes 3 times each day, on 3-4 days, checking, optometry and fitting the glasses. The control group had comprehensive treament. Besides the comprehensive treament and the experimental group had been treated by levodopa fou 3 months. After 3 months of treament, visual acuity pattern-visual group potential(P-VEP) were tested and analyzed. Results:1.The effective rates of amblyopia in experimental group A and contra l group A1.1.The effective rates of amblyopia in experimental group A and contral group A were 82.61%,56.86% respectively. There was a signigicant difference i n the effect rate between experimental group A and Contral group A (P<0.0 5).1.2.Experimental group A was A lso P-VEP shaved a decrease in latenly of P100 wave and increase of amplitude.1.3.Experimental group A was better than the contral group A on the inpr ovement of CSF(P< 0.05).1.4.Experimental group A was better than the contral group A on the inpr ovement of stereoscopic vision.(X2=6.950,P=0.012)1.5.Experimental group A was better than the contral group A on the inpr ovement of fusion, three-dimensional function (X2=6.33,P< 0.05)1.6.Experimental group A was better than the contral group A on the inpr ovement of fusion.(P< 0.01)1.7.The effective rates of hypermetropic, myopic and astigmatic ametropic a mblyo-Ia in experimental group A were 86.67%,66.67% and 42.86%. Hypermetropic ametropic amblyoia was better than myopic and astigmatic ametropic amblyoi a.(X2=6.533, P=0.038, P<0.05)1.8.The effective rates of mild, moderate and deep ametropic amblyoia in e xperimental group A 100.00%,80.00% and 35.29%.mild and moderate ametropi c amblyoia was better than deep ametropic amblyopia. (X2=11.252, P=0.004, P<0.05)2.The effective rates of amblyopia in experimental group B was very l ower.3.Side effects were in all during treament for amblyopia. Conclusion:1.Levodopa as an effective method to improve visual acuity of older c hildren and youth amblyopia United treament as better than the compreh ensive treatment.1.1.The levodopa with traditional therapy was better than traditional therap y or levodopa.1.2.A lso P-VEP and CSF of the levodopa with traditional therapy was be tter than traditional therapy.1.3.The fusion and three-dimensional function of the levodopa with traditio nal therapy was better than traditional therapy.1.4.The hypermetropic and myopic of ametropoc amblyopoa was better tha n astigmatic ametropic amblyoa.1.5.The effective rates of mild and moderate of of ametropoc amblyopoa was better than deep ametropic amblyoia.2.The effective rates of the levodopa was worse.3.Don't give up treat the older children and youth of Ametropic Ambl voia.
