Objective:To investigate the feasibility and safety of laparoscopy assisted radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer. Methods:The clinical and pathological data of 170 patients with gastric cancer, who received D2 radical gastrectomy in our department from October 2009 to January 2011, were analyzed retrospectively. In these cases,82 cases were in open group (OG)and 88 in laparoscopy assisted group(LAG). In laparoscopy assisted group,5 cases (3 in prophase) which were converted to open surgery was excluded.30 cases were performed in prophase and 53 in anaphase successfully. Results:The anaphase cases of LAG were better than the prophase cases in operation time, blood loss and resected lymph node number. Compared with the OG group, the anaphase group of LAG took long operation time, was better in blood loss, length of incision, farting time and had the same number of resected lymph nodes. Conclusion:Laparoscopy assisted radical gastrectomy is a feasible and safe treatment. It has the characteristics of minimal invasion and rapid recovery.
