The Relationship Between Arterial Elasticity And Carotid Artery Disease In Hypertensive Patients

Background Carotid femoral pulse wave velocity (CFPWV) is conduction velocity of the pulse wave in the carotid femoral artery segment, which is the main artery elastic response, studies have shown that: hypertension, type 2 diabetes and obesity patients, whose carotid shares pulse wave velocity were significantly faster than the normal, The latest research suggests that large artery elasticity and arterial disease in hypertension patients are closely related, this study detected Arterial elasticity, carotid artery lesions and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (High sensitivity C-Reactive Protein, Hs-CRP) in hypertension patients, to explore the relationship among the carotid artery elasticity,carotid artery lesions and Inflammatory mediators.Methods A total of 110 consecutive patients were enrolled. Carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (CFPWV) was measured to evaluate the aortic elasticity.The severity degree of carotid artery disease was detected by Carotid artery ultrasound. According to CFPWV, they were divided into 2 groups:groupⅠ(CFPWV0-13.0m/s,n = 58),groupⅡ(CFPWV≥13.0m/s,n =52). Comparing CFPWV, hs-CRP, age, gender, BMI, PP, SBP, DBP, the incidence of Arteriosclerosis,the incidence of Arteriosclerosis with plaque and Various biochemical indicators in two groups.Results 1.Age, pulse pressure, systolic blood pressure, C-reactive protein were higher in groupⅡthan in groupⅠ( P < 0.05).2. Univariate correlation analysis showed that age, SBP, PP,hs-CRP and CFPWV were positively correlated.3.Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that hs-CRP and CFPWV most closely (P <0.01).4.Compared with groupⅠ, groupⅡhad the high incidence of carotid atherosclerosis or hardening of plaque.Conclusion Arterial elasticity and carotid artery disease related,so CFPWV may reflect the situation of carotid atherosclerosis, make a good forecast for early atherosclerosis,and delay the occurrence of cardiovascular complications..
