The Expressions And Clinical Significance Of Livin And PTEN In Epithelial Ovarian Carcinoma Tissues

Objective: This study is to detect the expressions of Livin and PTEN protein in epithelial ovarian carcinoma and the clinical and pathological characteristics, as well as their inter-relationship. And to explore the clinical significance in the development of ovarian carcinoma.Methods: Expression of Livin and PTEN in 60 samples of ovarian epithelial carcinomas 20 samples of benign ovarian epithelial tumors and 20 normal ovarian tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry.Results: 1. Epithelial ovarian carcinoma tissues Livin protein expression(80.0%) was significantly higher than that of benign ovarian epithelial tumors(10.0%) and normal ovarian tissues(5.0%), (P<0.01). There was a positive correlation between the expression of Livin and the tumor grade and was no statistically significant correlation between tumor stage and lymph node metastasis. 2. Epithelial ovarian carcinoma(26.7%) PTEN protein positive expression rate was significantly lower than that of benign ovarian epithelial tumors(95.0%) and normal ovarian tissues(100.0), (P<0.01). The expression of PTEN was negatively related to tumor stage, tumor grade and lymph node metastasis, (P<0.01).3. The expression of Livin was negatively correlated with the expression of PTEN (P<0.01).Conclusions:1. Livin was expressed high in epithelial ovarian carcinoma,but shows little expression in benign ovarian epithelial tumors and normal ovarian tissues. There was a positive correlation between the expression of Livin and the tumor pathological grade and was no statistically significant correlation between tumor stage and lymph node metastasis,which could be marker of tumor and to evaluate prognosis in ovarian carcinoma.2. The low expression of PTEN is closely related to tumor pathological grades, tumor stage and 1ymph node metastasis,It may play a important role in the occurrence and development of ovarian carcinoma.3. The expression of Livin was negative relation with PTEN,and they can cooperate with in the occurrence and development of ovarian carcinoma. They may benefits for diagnosis in ovarian carcinoma to investigate the tree kinds of protein. Up-regulated expression of Livin and down-regulated expression of PTEN may play an important role in the process of carcinogenesis and differentiation of epithelial ovarian carcinoma; Livin may be useful targets for treatment of ovarian carcinoma.
