Objective:Utilizing the 2D and 3D tomographic ultcasound imaging(TUI), TUI technique observe the integrity of the postnasal triangle in 11-13 weeks. To compare and evaluate the function of the two-dimensional ultrasound and the three-dimensional tomographic ultrasound imaging (TUI) in measuring the postnasal triangle of the fetuses in 11~13 weeks.Materials and methods:The first group:150 fetuses were chosen with Crown-Rump Length (CRL) around 45-84mm. In prospective study, for the pregnant women in early pregnancy accepting nuchal translucency, (NT) screening, Using 2D and 3D ultrasound respectively in facial ministry inclined coronal view watched the Retronasal fetal postnasal triangle's integrity in 11~13 weeks. This paper compared the feasibility in screening cleft palate in early pregnancy of the two kinds of observation byχ2. The second group:for the 100 pregnant women in early pregnancy accepting nuchal translucency,(NT) screening, the two-dimensional ultrasound and three-dimensional ultrasound technique were used in facial inclined coronary view prospectively to measure the fetal postnasal triangle vertex Angle (fetus 11 to 13 weeks). This paper compares the conventional two-dimensional ultrasound with the three-dimensional ultrasound TUI technology in measurement differences and repeatability by independent samplet. To discriminate whether they have significant differences. It analyzes the relationship between the fetal postnasal triangle vertex Angle and the Crown-Rump Length (CRL) and evaluates the use of TUI technology in the fetal facial examination. P<0.05 means a statistically significance. Results:The first group, in the 150 fetal ultrasound examinations, two-dimensional ultrasound can observe in 146 cases that whether fetal postnasal triangle is complete, only one case with brain malformation cannot be scanned.Three-dimensional ultrasound can observe 97 cases. 20 in 150 cases cannot be tracked (15 cases were lost,5 patients with congenital diseases, had abortion or induced labor, with 3 cases in early pregnancy had been found in serious deformity). After the birth, the other 130 fetuses are all normal, without the palate deformity, confirming ultrasound diagnosis. The second group, in the 100 fetal ultrasound examination cases, by using two dimensional ultrasound technique,93 fetuses'retro nasal triangle images during early pregnancy are obtained within 15 min, 87(87%) fetuses acquired at least two 2D measuring planes, and 58(58%) fetuses acquired at least two 3D measuring planes. The average differences between two 2D measurement values of each fetus is 6.62°±1.45°(5.17°~8.07°),while the differences between two 3D measurement values of each fetus is 2.33°±1.35°(0.98°~3.68°). The former is obviously greater than the later, which means that 3D measurement'repeatability is better (P< 0.01).52 fetuses receive at least two 2D and 3D measurement planes. Two-dimensional postnasal triangle'vertex angle is 79.00°±2.70°(75.89°~85.09°).3D postnasal triangle'vertex Angle is 77.72°±2.71°(72.81°~82.06°). No statistically significant differences (P= 0.165). Compare the 3D postnasal triangle vertex angle with the CRL.It can be concluded that while the 3D postnasal triangle vertex Angle increases, the CRL decreases. They are moderate related(r=-0.518,/P<0.05).Conclusion:1,In the first 11~13 weeks fetal examination, two-dimensional ultrasound can be faster and more direct to scan the postnasal triangle, observe the existence of interrupt, and diagnosis the existence of cleft palate.2,With the help of the 3D ultrasound probe and the TUI technique, the retro nasal triangle and its vertex angle can be detected rapidly.3,It can be concluded that while the 3D postnasal triangle vertex Angle increases, the CRL decreases. They are related4,In the clinical application, comparing the volume data based on the inclined coronary views and the volume data based on the midsagittal views, the former can obtain more complete and legible postnasal triangle views.
