Objective:Toinvestigatethenormalthree-dimensionalultrasoundimagingofthefetal palate methods and imaging characteristics, and to investigate the value ofthree-dimensional ultrasonography in the diagnosis of fetal cleft lip and palate. Methods:Two hundred and ten healthy pregnant women with single fetuswithout deformity and twelve pregnant women with fetuses of celft lip andpalate diagnosed by2DUS were examined with cranial facialthree-dimensional ultrasonography in the ultrasound department of ourhospital from April2012to January2013.Using GE Voluson E8,Philips IU22color Doppler ultrasonography with3D volumetric mechanical sectorscanning probe, volume3D data of fetal faces in the direction of theincident ultrasound with a certain angle to fetal hard palate in thesagittal or coronal plane for the sampling.Do offline analysis afterreconstruction, then observe the hard palate and measure the fetus palatewidth. Results: After reconstruction, the fetus palate is clearlydisplayed, normal group,197cases of11-38weeks of fetal palate imagingin210cases were successfully displayed (93.8%),imaging rate among11-16week group was96.6%(56/58),17-24week group was95.6%(69/72),25-32week group was93.9%(46/49),33-38week group was83.9%(26/31);Palate inthe coronal, sagittal and transverse shows obvious characteristicmorphology at different gestational age.Fetal hard palate forms thecoronal plane with increasing gestational age increasedcurvature, sagittal palate flat walk the line early and bridge-like changeis late.Palate wide diameter increases with gestational age.All normal fetuses after birth were followed to confirm without cleft lip andpalate.Among12cases of fetuses with cleft lip and palate, cleft lip alonein4cases,4cases were grade III cleft lip, unilateral cleft lip and cleftpalate in7cases,1case of bilateral cleft lip and cleft palate, cleftpalate were grade III,were confirmed by postnatal confirmed. Conclusions: Three-dimensional ultrasound volumetric imagingacquires palate images fast with high success rate of each gestationalage reconstruction, images is clear, of which17-24weeks of fetal palatecoronal plane shows the highest success rate. With increasing gestationalage, fetal palate gradually widened. Palatal morphology and walk withincreasing gestational age changed relatively flat palate fetus in earlypregnancy, in late pregnancy increased curvature, running directiongradually changed from a straight line from high to low.The postnasltriangle of early fetal hard palate and cross-section withthree-dimensional ultrasound successful showing for early diagnosis offetal cleft palate offers the possibility of typing, especially thecross-section provide a more wealth of information in the display cleftpalate walk, scope, extent, etc.
