ObjectiveTo investigate the etiology and treatment of septic shock by urinary tract infection.MethodsFourteen cases(6male and 8 female) of septic shock by urinary tract infection. Their mean age was 49.5 years(range,37-64years). The patients were characterized by a temperature over 38℃or below 36℃, a heart rate over 90 BPM, and a blood pressure below 90/70 mmHg(l mm Hg=0.133 kPa)。After the diagnosis of septic shock by urinary tract infection, anti-shock therapy was conducted with rapid supplement o f colloidal and crystalloid solution. The vasoactive drugs, dopamine or norepinephrine were used for the establishment of stable circulation, and broad-spectrum antibiotic for the control of infection empirically.ResultsAll patients were treated successfully after two-tree days of anti-shock therapy, but three of them still have the infection of urinary tract, which was treated by operation.ConclusionsThe septic shock by urinary tract infection, especially after the endoscopic operation of urinary tract, for example ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy, cause a bad and rapid prognosis, and the key point of treatment is the diagnosis, ant-shock therapy and anti-infective therapy in a earlier period.
