Diabetes is a kind of serious and chronic disease. The increasing incidence of diabetes every year has caught extensive attention of the whole society. Tight control of blood sugar is always the key to the treatment of diabetes. However, compared with western medicine, the advantage of TCM in treating diabetes is still improving symptoms of complications. There has never been any important breakthrough in controlling blood sugar with TCM. And it has influenced the improvement and approval of clinical effect of TCM.Pro Tong xiaolin finds that Xiaoke in ancient times is different from modern diabetes, according to his clinical experience, and summarizes the pathogenesis and the development law of course of diabetes. On the basis of these new acknowledgements, Pro Tong formulates the therapeutic method of "XinKaiKuJiang" in treating diabetes according to incoordination between the spleen and stomach.On the basis of previous animal experiments that have proved the effectiveness and scientificalness of "XinKaiKuJiang" in treating diabetes, the specialized Microsoft database of diabetes was constructed, medical records of Guang'anmen Hospital China Academy of TCM were collected and input into the database. With the decrease of glycosylation hemoglobinAlc (HbAlc) by 0.4%, or fasting blood glucose (FBG) by lmmol/L being as the criteria of evaluation, a total of 1343(amount to 3019 man-time) medical records were selected. And 821 (amount to 1591 man-time) who have been treated with XinKaiKuJiang medical pairs were finally selected. Then all the data were analyzed with the data mining methods based on cluster analysis, association rules, scale-free network, etc. According to the analysis results, we summarized the characters of symptoms and syndrome, the relation with courses of dibetes, and the regularities of dosage of XinKaiKuJiang medical pairs usually used by Pro Tong in clinic. Through this method, Pro Tong's individual experience was upgraded to a treatment theory which can be popularized in clinic and useful for the treatment of diabetes and development of new drugs of TCM.
