Represented by malignant tumor, proliferative diseases also include prostatoplasia and mammary gland hyperplasia. The incidence of proliferative diseases has been increasing annually, and the average age of the patients shows the tendency of reducing. Proliferative diseases severely affect the health of human beings. For post-operative residual, recurrent, or chemoradiotherapy-insensitive tumors, novel treating techniques are urgently needed. In recent years, there have been reports about utilizing the non-thermal effects of intermediate frequency micro-electric fields (IFMEF) to treat malignant tumor, aiming at the abnormal division of tumor cells, and get positive results. However, few reports have discussed the development of the related specialized apparatus. Some other reports have claimed that microcurrent is effective in pain relief and curing neural diseases, but no report has yet discussed whether microcurrent is also effective in treating proliferative diseases such as malignant tumor. IFMEF express great potential in treating malignant tumors, especially for those inoperable, recurrent and chemoradiotherapy-insensitive tumors. We also care about whether intermediate frequency microcurrent (IFMC) has the similar effects. In view of the above, this article introduced an IFMEF/MC generator which can provide sinusoidal, square and triangle wave signals from 25 kHz~1.6 MHz with Vpp of 24.6V~32.8V. The detailed procedure of development was described in hardware design, software programming and safety issues. The intensities of MEF/MC generated by the machine were calculated by simulation: the MEF intensities were around 100 V/m~101 V/m and the current densities of MC were around 10-1 A/m2.Based on the machine we developed, preliminary biological experiments about malignant melanoma were carried out. The results showed that the inhibition rates of in vitro melanoma cells caused by IFMEF and IFMC were separately 27.11% and 82.16% at most and the size of tumor in vivo treated by IFMEF shrank to 6.3% of that of the controlled group. These results proved the effectiveness of this machine in treating malignant tumor. As other proliferative diseases share the similarity of abnormal cell division, this technique also possesses potential in treating other proliferative diseases such as prostatoplasia and mammary glands hyperplasia. The innovations of this article are: 1. Initiation in China, utilizing IFMEF to treating proliferative diseases such as malignant tumor; basically determine the range of IFMEF parameters in treating mouse malignant melanoma;2. For the first time, introducing IFMC in the area of tumor treating;3. According to the similarity of diseases, proposing the assumption of enlarging the treating range to other proliferative diseases.
