| 0bjective: To study the variation of levels of serum B-cell activating factor (BAFF),IL-10,IFN-γ,IL-4 and the correlation between the aberrant serum B-cell activating factor and serum IL-10,IFN-γ,IL-4 in pSS.Methods: The levels of serum BAFF and cytokines IL-10,IFN-γ,IL-4 were tested by ELISA method in 27 pSS patients ,18 Acute bacterial infection patients and compared with 20 healthy control subjects. The relationship between BAFF levels and IL-10,IFN-γ,IL-4,IL-10/IL-4,IFN-γ/IL-4,several clinical items in pSS patients were analyzed. Results: The median levels of serum BAFF in pSS were obviously higher than that in healthy controls[(9.62±4.96)ng/ml vs(3.72±0.50)ng/ml,P=0.022]. Serum BAFF levels of Acute bacterial infection patients were also significantly elevated compared to healthy controls[(13.31±5.34)ng/ml vs(3.72±0.50)ng/ml,P=0.0016].The levels of serum IFN-γwere of no Significant difference between in PSS patients and healthy controls[(142.76±80.94)pg/ml vs(99.63±93.12)pg/ml,P=0.6897] ,while the levels of serum IFN-γof Acute bacterial infection patients were significantly elevated compared to healthy controls and PSS patients [( 568.86±198.56 ) pg/ml vs(99.63±93.12)pg/ml,P=0.0001;(568.86±198.56)pg/ml v s(142.76±80.94)pg/ml,P=0.0004]。There was a positive correlation between serum BAFF levels and IFN-γin PSS patients(r=0.61653,P<0.001).The correlation between serum BAFF levels and IFN-γin Acute bacterial infection patients was no Significant(R=0.466,P=0.060).There were significant correlations between serum BAFF levels and IL-10,IL-4 level in healthy controls(r=0.464,P=0.0395;r=0.467,P=0.0377),but these relationship were no significant in PSS and Acute bacterial infection patients。Conclusion:The level of serum BAFF in pSS and Acute bacterial infection patients were significantly elevated. The level of serum BAFF positive correlated with level of serum IFN-γin PSS patients. But IFN-γwas not the primary stimulator of the elevating BAFF in PSS patients。The levels of serum IFN-γof Acute bacterial infection patients were significantly elevated compared to healthy controls and PSS patients. The levels of serum IFN-γmay be one of important indexes for distinguish PSS and acute bacterial infection. IL-10,IL-4 were not significantly associated with the promoting of BAFF in PSS patients. |
