Effects Of Telmisartan On The State Of Apelin-13 And APN In Patients With Essential Hypertension

Aim:This research attempts to explore the effects of telmisartan on the state of apelin-13 and adiponectin of patients with essential hypertension by means of contrasting the state of apelin-13 and adiponectin of patients with essential hypertension with those of healthy ones after telmisartan being used in the treatment.Methods:35 patients with mild essential hypertension at the age of 30 to 70 were chosen at random as a controlled group to be contrasted with a comparative group of 32 healthy ones.After 2 weeks'placebo treatment, 32 patients with mild essential hypertension took telmisartan once 40mg a day.After 4 weeks' treatment, for those whose blood pressure was not well controlled were required to take telmisartan once 80mg a day.This treatment would last 12 weeks.A comparison of the blood pressure, the serum concentration of apelin-13 and adiponectin of these two groups was made by way of ELISA (enzyme linked immune sorbent assay) before and after 12 weeks'treatment.Results:①Compared with normotensive control group,the serum concentration of apelin-13 and adiponectin of patients with essential hypertension were greatly lowered(17.61±6.52)pg/mL VS(29.58±15.19) pg/mL;(197.55±54.48)μg/L VS (248.29±35.32)μg/L,both(P<0.01).②fter 12 weeks'treatment of telmisartan the serum concentration of apelin-13 and adiponectin of patients with essential hypertension were much higher than before(17.61±6.52)pg/mL VS (25.50±9.08) pg/mL; (197.55±54.48)μg/L VS(265.07±135.31)μg/L,both(P<0.01).Thus SBP (systolic blood pressure),DBP (diastolic blood pressure) and MAP(mean arterial blood pressure) of patients with essential hypertension were greatly decreased(147.6±5.4) mmHg VS (123.2±7.0)mmHg;(90.1±6.6)mmHg VS(77.6±5.5)mmHg; (109.3±4.0)mmHg VS (92.8±5.4)mmHg,both(P<0.01).③By the analysis of multiple linear regression, the result shows that the serum concentration of apelin-13 and adiponectin were negatively correlated with the blood pressure of patients with essential hypertension,and the serum concentration of apelin-13 were positively correlated with adiponectin of patients with essential hypertension(r=0.505,P=0.003). Conclusion:The Serum concentration of apelin-13 and adiponectin of patients with essential hypertension have been lowered after Telmisartan was used. Telmisartan can lower the blood pressure of patients with essential hypertension, and it can raise the serum concentration of apelin-13 and adiponectin of them simultaneously.The serum concentration of apelin-13 and adiponectin are in inverse proportion to the blood pressure of patients with essential hypertension.
