Effects Of Telmisartan On Clinic Therapy And Apelin-12 In Patients With Essential Hypertension

Objective To approach the effects and significance of Telmisartan on clinic therapy and apelin-12 in patients with essential hypertension (EH).Methods The levels of plasma apelin-12 in patients with EH (n=45) and healthy control group (n=30) were detected by euzymelinked immunosorbent assay. after lowering' blood pressure with Telmisartan for 12 weeks in EH group, the levels of plasma apelin-12 were detected again. The determination of BP, ABPM (n=20), biochemistry tests including fasting blood sugar, liver function, renal function and blood lipids were investigated whin prior and post treatment in these EH patients, Ultrasonic cardiography was utilized to determine the patients' heart function parameters, that is LVEF, FS, LVDd, EF slope rate, EV, AV and E/A.Results The plasma apelin-12 level after 12 weeks' treatment of Telmisartan was significantly higher than that of before treatment [(3.14±0.40)ng/ml vs (3.41±0.59)ng/ml, P=0.013]; The plasma apelin-12 level before treatment was significantly lower than that of healthy control group [(3.14±0.40)ng/ml vs (3.61±0.30) ng/ml, P=0.0001]; The levels of plasma apelin-12 in patients with EH was inverse correlation to MAP(r=-0.410, P=0.005). BMP was significantly degraded [(115±7) mmHg vs (99±8)mmHg, P=0.000)] and ABPM was also significantly degraded (P=0.000); All heart function parameters and biochemical indicators, such as blood sugar, liver function, renal function and blood lipids, were not obviously changed (P>0.05). and they had not dependability compared with blood pressure.Conclusion This result demonstrated that the chang of plasma apelin-12 has some significance to pathogenesy of patients with EH. After 12 week's, The increase of apelin-12 illustrate underpressure role of Telmisartan which is related to heighten of plasma apelin-12. It's safety and effective for using telmisartan to therapy EH in short-term.
