| Objective:To study the expression and significance of SOX2 in colorectal cancer. Methods:Immunohistochemistry method was used to detect the expression of SOX2 in colorectal cancer.Retrospective method was used to analyze the relationship of the expression of SOX2 and pathological factors of colorectal cancer.Results:SOX2 was not expressed in normal bowel mucosa, but it highly expressed(41.3%) in colorectal cancer(P=0.000). The expression of SOX2 was correlated with TNM staging, tumor infiltration depth, lymph node transfer, the expression of Ki-67 and P53. (P< 0.05). Single factor analysis showed that the overall survival(OS) of colorectal cancer was correlated with lymph node transfer,TNM staging, high expression of SOX2,high expression of Ki-67 and P53,histological classification (P<0.05). and disease-free survival (DFS) was correlated with TNM staging, high expression of SOX2,high expression of Ki-67 and P53,histological classification (P<0.05). Multiariate analysis showed that the expression of SOX2,TNM stage and lymph node transfer were the independent influence factors of the overall survival and disease-free survival of colorectal cancer.3-year OS and DFS of the high SOX2 expression groups were 66.7% and 30.3%, respectively; the low SOX2 expression groups were 97.9% and 93.6%, respectively. there is significant difference between these two groups(P=0.000).5-year OS and DFS of the high SOX2 expression groups were 39.4% and 21.2%, respectively; the low SOX2 expression groups were 95.7% and 83%, respectively, there is significant difference between these two groups(P= 0.000).Conclusion:SOX2 was not expressed in normal colorectal mucosal, but highly expressed in colorectal cancer tissues. And expression level of SOX2 in colorectal cancer patients was relevant with prognosis. |
