Clinical Study Of Diabetic Macular Edema In Diabetic Retinopathy

Objective:to analyze there relationships among the classification of diabeic macular(DME), the stages of diabetic retionpathy(DR) the course of diabetic mellitus and visual loss.Method:151 cases with DR were analyzed about the incidence of DME (34.38%),including 54eyes (54.55%) withlow-grade DME,24 eyes(24.24%) with midrang DMR,21 eyes(21.21%) with severe edema.The occurrence of DME was 10.10% in stage I,8.08% in stageⅡ,40.40% in stageⅢ, 41.41% in stage IV,and beacause of occurrence of syndrome such as cataract,proliferation of retina vitreous hemorrhage,it is hard to find DME in stageⅤ,ⅥDR.The DME mainly happened during the period of time 5-20years for the DR patients.Our study shows that the occurrence of DME were 8%when patents'course were less than 5years,20.1% in the 6-10years,28.3% in the 11-15years,38.4% in the 16-20 years,and 4% when patents course were more than 20years.The visual loss of DME:17.0% in<0.1,26.4% in≥0.1-<0.4,22.2% in≥0.4-<0.7,9.1% in≥0.7-<1.0 and 9.1% in≥1.0.Conclusions:So we reached the conclusions that DME is the main cause of visual impairment of DR.along with the development of DME,the vision loss increase.Along with the increases of course,the incidence of DME increases,and the severity of DME aggravated. The development of DME has definite correspondence with the development of DR,but they have no strict correspondence in the chronnological order with the standard of the diagnosis and classification constituted in 1984.
