[Background] Central venous catheter has been widely used in the clinical work all over the world. But as the increased frequency of its use the incidence of severe complication of central venous catheter related infection also grow fast, which initially result in increased length of hospitalization, increased burden on healthcare payment and even life-threatened influence. However, with the improvement of the techniques and the preventive measures, clinicians pay less attention to this complication. So what is the reality? The research is aim to study the risk factors of this severe complication and the efficiency of the preventive measures in the current clinical work.[Methods]Observe the patients who received the central venous catheter puncture in the same period. These patients are separately from the general surgical wards, surgical intensive care unit and hospital observation room. The factors we observe include the general condition of patients, the programs and the procedures of treatment, the details about the whole course of the central venous catheter puncture. Organize and classify the data and make Logistic regression statistical analysis by using SPSS.[Results] Totally 61 cases are collected. There are no catheter-related infection observed in the general surgical wards or the surgical intensive care unit, while 6 cases in the hospital observation room. The Logistic regression analysis outcome shows that the difference of the data which include the different environments, the length of preservation of the catheter and the existence of distant infection have statistical meaning.[Conclusion] Environments, the distribution of medical resources, the length of preservation of the catheter and the existence of distant infection are the influence factors of the catheter-related infection.
