The Observation Of Two-way Adjustment Of Colonic Electromyographic With Acupuncture In Rats With Slow Transit Constipation

Objective:After treated by acupuncture, Cisapride and combined acupuncture-Cisapride in rats with slow transit constipation (STC), we observed:(1)the effects on colonic electromyography and the time of first bowel movement by using the three different treatments; (2) the differences between the three methods on effectiveness, and the ascendancy of acupuncture treatment on STC.Method:10 were randomly chose from totally 80 rats. The other 70 model of rats with cathartic colon was established by intragastric administration of progressively increased dosage of rhubarb suspension. The changes of colonic electromyography and the time of first bowel movement after acupuncture on Housanli(ST36) and Zhaohai(KI6), Cisapride and combined acupuncture-Cisapride were detected after 14 days of therapy.Result:(1) The time of first bowel movement of normal rats was (385.50+46.75) min,of STC rats was (617.00±98.06) min. (2) After therapy of acupuncture The frequency and voltage of normal rats was (13.76±1.89)beat/min, (0.44±0.16)mv,and the STC rats decreased to (8.11±4.44) beat/min, (0.43±0.12) mv, and increased to (25.59±13.89) beat/min, (0.71+0.42) mv. After therapy, the frequency and voltage of acupuncture was (8.36±5.55) beat/min, (0.42±0.21) mv; (20.86±4.25) beat/min, (0.28±0.06) mv. Of Cisapride was (6.84±3.44) beat/min, (0.20+0.03) mv; (28.42±19.79) beat/min, (0.47±0.26) mv. And of combined acupuncture-Cisapride was (12.37±2.16) beat/min, (0.37±0.05) mv; (21.20±4.72) beat/min, (0.46+0.17) mv.Conclusion:(1)Each of the three treatments can decuratate the time of first bowel movement; (2) Cisapride can only increase the frequency and voltage of low wave in rats. Acupuncture and combined acupuncture-Cisapride can leveling the increased and decreased patterns back to normal by a two way regulatory pathway.
