This dissertation consists of two chapters. In the first chapter, the isolation of chemical constituents of Jatropha Curcas L. were described. In the second chapter, Progress in Studies on Chemical Constituents and Pharmacological Functions of Jatropha Curcas L. Plant were reviewed.Chapter 1 Studies on Chemical Constituents of Jatropha Curcas L.Jatropha curcas L. is woody plant and belongs to Euphorbiaceae. The plant of Jatropha curcas L. distribute the southern part of China. Nowadays, the plant of Jatropha curcas L. is widely planted in Yunnan province. As a part of our studies of medicinal plants growing on the Yunnan Province, we did a careful phytochemical investigation on this plant. As a result, 20 compounds were isolated from Jatropha curcas L. The structures of these compounds have been elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods (UV, IR, X-Ray, MS, 1D and 2D NMR). These chemical constituents cover diterpene, flavonoid, lignan, steroid, tritrpene and others.Chapter 2 Progress in Studies on Chemical Constituents and Pharmacological Activities of Jatropha Curcas L. PlantThis review deals with the recent progress in the studies of chemical constituents and pharmacological functions of Jatropha curcas L. plant, which can provide some value information for the development of Jatropha curcas L. plant.
