Objective:Explore the differences of multifocal visual evoked potential between the basic cure hyperopic amblyopia and the normal eyes of children and observe the characteristic changes of multifocal visual evoked potential in different treatment time of the hyperopic amblyopia ; the purpose of exploring the pathogenesis hyperopic amblyopia is becoming multifocal visual evoked potential into objective testing standards and collecting preliminary data.Methods:The mfVEP results of 69 amblyopias were detected by German Roland's RETIscan3.20 multifocal visual electrophysiological instrument, The changes in different retinal area were investigated by comparing with the mfVEP results of 30 normals as the control group.Results :1.compared the mfVEP results of the basic cure hyperopic amblyopia in each group with the normal control group:there was no statistically significant differences of mfVEP N1-P1 amplitude response density and P1 latency in six eccentricity between the basic cure slight hyperopic amblyopia group with the normal control group (P> 0.05); compared with the normal control group, mfVEP N1-P1 amplitude response densities decreased and P1 latency extended in the first ring in the basic cure moderate hyperopic amblyopia group ,the differences were statistically significant (P <0.05); compared with the normal control group, mfVEP N1-P1 amplitude response densities decreased in the first ring and P1 latency extended in the first,second ring in the basic cure of severe hyperopic amblyopia group, the differences were statistically significant (P <0.05) ; compared with the normal control group, mfVEP N1-P1 amplitude response densities and P1 latency of upper,lower visual field and nasal,temporal visual field in the basic cure of slight,moderate,severe hyperopic amblyopia group ,the differences were no statistical significance .2.the mfVEP comparison in each group of the basic cure hyperopic amblyopia eyes which went through the various post-treatment period :in the basic cure slight hyperopic amblyopia group, the N1-P1 amplitude response density of the mfVEP N1-P1and P1 latency in six eccentricity have no statistically significant differences between continued to treat one month and continued to treat six months after treatment of amblyopia Amblyopia (P> 0.05) .In the basic cure moderate hyperopic amblyopia group, mfVEP N1-P1 amplitude of eccentricity in response density and P1 latency was no significant difference have no statistically significant when continue one month after treatment of amblyopia 6 (P> 0.05),but the mfVEP N1-P1 amplitude response densities of the first ring up was up, the differences were statistically significant between treatment of amblyopia 6 months and the just meet the basic cure of amblyopia. (P <0.05), but the latency of the first ring was no significant difference (P >0.05). Between the just meet basic cure of severe hyperopic amblyopia and continued to treat one month after treatment of amblyopia , mfVEP N1-P1 amplitudein response density in six eccentricity and P1 latency was no significant differences (P> 0.05), however, mfVEP N1-P1 amplitude response densities increased in the first ring after six months of severe hyperopic amblyopia ,there was a statistically significant difference (P <0.05), but the latency in the first ring within the difference was not statistically significant (P> 0.05).Conclusion:1.The visual pathway of patients with the basic cure slight hyperopic amblyopia has basically returned to the normal levels.2.The visual pathway of patients with the basic cure moderate to severe amblyopia has not been fully restored to the normal levels.3. With the extension of treatment period, the damage of visual pathway in patients with the basic cure moderate to severe amblyopia could be improved, but the recovery of the amplitude response densities was earlier than that of the latency, so the changes did not parallel.4. The pathomechanism of Hyperopia amblyopia may be because the central visual had damaged and retinal ganglion cells were abnormal, in particular, the X-cells were damaged significantly which were responsible for the spatial resolution.5. MfVEP is an objective visual function detection means for children amblyopia and can provide an objective basis for amblyopia treatment and prognosis.
