Objective: To summery the histlolgical classification, age, locational and misdiagnosed character of ovarian tumor in our hospital .Methods: 1940 cases of ovarian tumors treated in our hospital from Dec,1989 to Jan,2008 were retrospectively analysised. Results: There were 865(44.59%) cases of benign tumors,978(50.41%) cases of malignant tumors and 97(5%) cases of borderline tumors. According to by histological classification, there were 1095(56.44%) cases of epithelial tumors,646(33.3%) cases of germ cell tumors.152(7.83%) cases of sex cord-stromal tumors,32(1.65%)cases of tumor like conditions and others. Among the 1075 cases of malignant tumors, epithelial type accounted for 77.67%,germ cell tumors were 12.74%, sex cord-stromal tumors were 8.47% and others. The mean age of the epithelial and sex cord-stromal patients were significantly older than the germ cell tumor patients(P<0.05).The mean age of the epithelial malignant patients were significantly older than the epithelial benign patients(P<0.05),The mean age of the malignant germ cell tumors and sex cord-stromal patients were significantly younger than the malignant patients(P<0.05),Among the epithelial tumors, the mean age of malignant was significantly higher than the benign . The rate of malignant tumor which happen in bilaterally were higher than that of happen in benign tumor (P<0.05). Conclusions: the constituent ratio of ovarian malignant tumors is higher than that of benign tumors;most of them are epithelial malignant tumors; The epithelial ovarian cancer usually happen at the elder age , and the malignant germ cell tumors and sex cord-stromal tumors usually happen at younger age; there are more malignant ovarian tumors happening bilaterally than benign tumors .
