Background:Traumatic tattoos, also known as foreign body tattoo. It refers to that foreign particles after trauma, penetrate the epidermis into the skin and subcutaneous tissue, in the form of permanent pigment plaques. Tattoos in face, neck, chest and limb leave patients with appearance damage of different degrees, and even after recovery, permanent marker will influence the social and public activities and cause serious psychological burden. Therefore, many patients need treatment urgently. Currently, there are various treatments of traumatic tattoo, but each has its advantages and disadvantages. So a convenient and less invasive therapy which can instantly remove contaminated tissue and has rapid recovery is a hot spot, and also is in an inevitable developing trend. We tried to review different therapeutic methods of traumatic tattoo, and then value the efficacy of different methods was valued, which included surgery, treatment with ultra-high frequency skin plastic apparatus(with self-owned intellectual property rights) or laser, or comprehensive treatment of all above, in order to explore the optimal treatment of traumatic tattoo Research objectives:To explore the optimal treatment of traumatic tattoo, the study was tried to review different therapeutic methods of traumatic tattoo, and then value the efficacy of different methods was valued, which included surgery, treatment with ultra-high frequency skin plastic apparatus or laser, or comprehensive treatment of all above.Research Methods:Cases of traumatic tattoo were reviewed, from October 2005 to January 2010 in Laser Center, Tang Du Hospital, the Fourth Military Medical University. 51 patients were selected from nearly one hundred of injured patients in different levels. And according to clinical features of each patient, we use different treatments such as surgery, treatment with ultra-high frequency skin plastic apparatus (Department of Laser Center, Tang Du Hospital, Fourth Military Medical University) or laser (C3 Medlite Q-laser, KangAo, U.S. Parameter: wavelength of 1064nm, the frequency of 5 and 10Hz, spot diameter of 2mm, the energy density of 2.9-4.5J/cm2), or comprehensive treatment of all above. Patients were followed up 3-6 months, and pictures were taken before and after treatment with comparison. The doctor made the preliminary evaluation on curative effect and analyzed them objectively in order to find the best treatment of traumatic tattoos with different clinical features.Research results:As influencing factors of traumatic tattoo include injury causes, injury distant, and exposed parts associated with or without combined injury, and different performance degree of injury, there is no universal and effective treatment. Through reviewing of such cases a conclusion was drawn: before treatment, the depth level of tattoo should be paid attention to, and then clinical features should be analyzed, at last appropriate treatment be chosen. The aim is removal of foreign particles as far as possible, preserve of normal skin and shape, and reduction of damage to surrounding tissue. Conclusion:In 51 patients, there are 10 patients (20%) of surgery, 14 cases (27%) of treatment with XH ultra-high frequency skin plastic instrument,22cases (43%) of laser treatment, 5 patients (10% ) of complicated cases(surgery and XH ultra-high frequency skin plastic or Q-laser treatment). 48 patients of them achieved good results.1.For the cases with deep foreign particles or combined with scars and trauma of small size, the traditional surgical method can be used with partial resection;2.For the cases with superficial foreign particles, ultra high frequency skin plastic therapy can achieve better effect;3.Laser targeted to pigment-based traumatic tattoo, but for some remained linear foreign bodies left after bruising, laser treatment is not effective.4.Comprehensive treatment surgery and XH ultra-high frequency skin plastic or Q-laser treatment) can be used for traumatic tattoos. And according to clinical features, these treatments can be combined or used separately.
