Objective: Case-control studies addressing relationship between antiph- ospholipid antibodies and preeclampsia were indentified by literature search, and then relevant data were extracted from methodological eligible studies for Meta analysis to assess the association between preeclampsia and presence of antiphospholipid antibodies. Methods: We searched Medline and CNKI for case-control articles pub- lished between 1975 and 2009 with preeclampsia and antiphospholipid antibo- dies, using the term"preeclampsia"crossed with each of the following index terms:"anticardiolipin antibodies"(ACL),"lupus anticoagulant"(LA),"anti- beta2-glycoprotein-I antibodies". Fixed effort model or random effort model were applied for data processing to calculate the pooled odds ratio(OR)and its corresponding 95%confidence interval (95%CI)based on heterogeneity test. Sensitivity analysis and cumulation Meta-analysis were performed and the publication bias was evaluated by funnel plot, liner regression and fail-safe number.Meta-analysis was carried out using Review manager 4.2.Results: 13 literatures were selected for Meta-analysis based on our incl- uding and excluding standards. we went to assess the association between mild and severe preeclampsia with presence of antiphospholipid Antibodies such as lupus anticoagulant, anticardiolipin antibodies IgG,anticardiolipin antibodies IgM,anti-beta2-glycoprotein-I. Their pooled OR and 95%CI were 1.68[0.51, 5.54],13.34[4.70, 37.84]; 1.44[0.95, 2.20],2.20[0.72, 6.75];1.24 [0.78, 1.98],1.28[0.72, 2.29];0.75[0.40, 1.43],2.04[0.86, 4.82],and the pooled OR and 95%CI of Anticardiolipin antibodies IgG and early onset preeclamp- sia is 8.26[1.76, 38.75].Conclusion:LA is associated with severe preeclampsia, ACL-IgG is associated with early onset preeclampsia, LA,ACL-IgG,ACL-IgM,anti- beta2-glycoprotein-I are not associated with mild preeclampsia, ACL- IgM,anti-beta2-gp-I are not associated with severe preeclampsia also. LA,ACL- IgG May increase the risk of severe preeclampsia and early onset preeclamp- sia, they can predict the pregnancy outcome of preeclampsia, it is necessary to screen LA, ACL-IgG, to provide better service in the diagnosis and treatment of preeclampsia.
