The Significance Of EGRF And Ki-67 Expression In The Gastric Stromal Tumor

Objective: To investigate the expression of EGFR and Ki-67 in the gastric stromal tumor,and the relationship between the expression and biological behavior of gastric stromal tumor(GST)Methods: sixty four patients with gastric stromal tumors who underwent surgical resection at The first affliliate hospital of nanchang university. A correlated analysis was conducted between the result of the expression and biological behavior of gastric stromal tumor(GST) .Results:12 out of 64 cases were positive for Ki-67 (18.8% ), of which the very low-risk, low-risk, intermediate risk and high-risk groups were 0/18, 1/20, 3/16 and 8/10, respectively. In the 12 cases of Ki-67-positive tumors, high-risk group expressed Ki-67 more frequently(80.0%) than intermediate risk(18.8%) ,low-risk(5.0%) and very low-risk groups(0 case) (P<0.01). The expression of Ki-67 in the other three groups have no signifcant difference(P>0.05)â‘¡34 out of 64 cases exhibited EGFR expression(52.3% ), of which the very low-risk, low-risk, intermediate risk and high-risk groups were 4/18, 8/20, 13/16 and 9/10 cases, respectively. In the 34 cases of EGFR-positive tumors, high-risk group expressed EGFR more frequently(90.0%) than intermediate risk(81.3%),low-risk(40.0%),and very low-risk groups (22.2%)( P<0.01). And intermediate risk group expressed EGFR more frequently than low-risk and very low-risk groups( P<0.05).Spindle cellvariant expressed EGFR less frequently (37.8%) than mixed cellvariant(83.3%) and epithelioid cellvariant(92.3%)(P<0.01);and Spindle cellvariant expressed Ki-67 less frequently(2.2%) than epithelioid cellvariant(61.5%) and mixed cell variant(50.0%)(P<0.01). The expression of both Ki-67 and EGFR in epithelioid cell variant and mixed cell variant have no signifcant difference(P>0.05).There were not only significant relations between the expression of EGFR and the biological behavior, but also between the expression of EGFR and pathologicalvariants,and so is Ki-67.And there are significant relation between the expression of EGFR and Ki-67(P<0.05).Conclusions: Ki-67 and EGFR are closely related with the biological behavior and pathological variants of GST, and they have a positive relation with each other in the expression of GST, and might be potential markers for evaluation of GST behavior.
