Objective: To explore the diagnostic value of Color Doppler Ultrasound in diabetes mellitus(DM) patients with anterior and posterior tibial artery occlusive disease. Methods: Analyzed the sonographic appearance of Color Doppler Ultrasonography about the sixty patients with DM in our hospital whose lower extremity arterial were given the examina- tion of Color Doppler Ultrasonographic (CDU) and Digital Subtraction Angiograph (DSA) respectively, and compared with everyone's results between these two examinati - on. Result: The sonographic characteristics of atherosclerosis obstruction, found by Do- ppler Sonography, include: (1) Irregular thickened intimia, formation of atherosclerotic hyperechogenic plaques, stenosis and obstruction of the pathological arteries and no flow signals in the arteries, the common construction of the vessel wall about the segment with athe- rosclerosis obstruction was vanished. (2) The Color Doppler Ultrasonographic's sensitivi- ty to the anterior tibial artery, posterior tibial artery occlusion diseases respectively was 100%, 91%; the specificity respectively was 86%, 100%. Conclusion: (1) Stenosis and obstruction of the pathological arteries and no flow signals in the arteries. (2) The Color Doppler Ultrasono- graphic has high sensitivity and specificity in diagnose of the anterior tibial artery, posterior tibial artery occlusive disease.
