At present, college English teaching in China is experiencing a large reform, in which every element will be affected. With the reform of teaching syllabus, teaching materials, teaching modes and testing system, the quality of college English teaching has greatly improved. Given the external factors are similar, including teaching methods, teaching facilities, teaching materials, teaching environment and so forth, EFL classroom teaching effects of college English teachers with similar academic background are pretty different. Since 1970s, some researchers have started to realize that besides external factors, to a great extent, teachers'personal factors also play a critical role in determining whether EFL classroom teaching can achieve expected effects or not. In recent years, more and more researchers have noticed that personal factors (including individual talk competence, temperament, age, gender, beliefs, professional ethics and so forth) of teachers with similar academic background play a role in EFL classroom teaching effects to some degree.In this thesis,the impacts of teachers'personal factors on EFL classroom teaching are analyzed and studied from several aspects. An empirical research is used and the teachers and the non-English majors in the same college are taken as the research subjects in order to find out the impact of EFL teachers' personal factors on classroom teaching through the means of questionnaire, interview, classroom observation and data analysis. Two hundred students from four majors were selected randomly to finish a questionnaire, which was designed to find out whether personal factors of EFL teachers could have impact on their English study or not. Findings show that the classroom teaching effects of EFL teachers with the similar academic background are quite different and EFL teachers'personal factors do influence classroom teaching. Among the personal factors of EFL teachers, talk competence, temperament, beliefs and professional ethics are relatively more influencial.The present study aims at providing some insightful information for enhancing EFL teaching quality in China.
