Wang Guowei's Aesthetics has a strong touch of Humanism, as a result of the problem of life which he had been thinking for all his lifetime. Pain and sufferings of the human life and its setting free is the clue which had pierced through the learning in the path of his study. Esthetics, also including verse and philosophy, means strength which can nurse a pure character and inspire the intelligence, hence help people make the proper judgment, lead people to the path of virtue. His theory was built on the bases human's potential: the inborn potential in human nature and the effort and accomplishment after birth. His Humanism theory also concerned with human's problem: life and the world; the realization of one's own value and the universal value of the world. In his theory the two aspects were combined to one with the tie of genius, for genius is the bridge from human to the world which they live in. That's the meaning of Wang Guowei's poetry: accidentally see the world of mortals in an immortal's eye. The sign of the maturity of his esthetic thought is the category of "(mental) stage ".The proposal of "State" was benefited from the thoughts of life and art. In the view of life philosophy, his thought started from Schopenhauer's philosophy and balanced the intelligential structure of Kant's philosophy and the way of practice of Confucianism. In the view of art philosophy, He broke the limit of inborn format of Aesthetics—beautiful and sublime ,and proposed the theory of"classical elegance"which found a space for the practice of Humanism. The conformity of Life philosophy and art philosophy is that they include inborn principles and practice equally, which shows the same tendency, from stationary to activity, then back to stationary: inborn principles→human practice→human ideal. So on the foot of humanism, "(mental) stage"has an attribute of momentum, which point out a standard and a much higher humanities ideal. The standard is"pure / lifelike"which stands for the personality and art. Above the standard, "(mental) stage"has a meaning of upward mobility, and in its ideal appearance, art and personality are unified, so as their excellence. The immortal art is a symbol of the independent personality of excellence.
