A Research On The Architectural Couture Of Wenzhou Furong Ancient Village

Since ancient times, the continuation and development of the ancient village have affected villages'life in all aspects. With the rapid development of our social economic, urban construction shows a booming prosperity. People's living condition is promoted to a higher level. However, though the living condition improved, people find many contradictions and problems. The most impressed one is focused on how to deal with the contradiction between the development of contemporary culture and the protection and continuation of traditional culture, especially the ancient houses with long history and the traditional villages which can be easily vanished in our eyes with time going by. They are now meeting the culture conflicts between novelty and tradition, continuation and development. Since most of the adults go outside for business, traditional houses are left idled and on one keep them maintained, by which they are facing the dander of being declined even collapsed. At the same time, many ancient village styles are being destroyed because of the development of the new rural construction. Some of them are facing the risk of being beyond of recognition, which are all caused by the emerge of the non-native decoration construction style and the use of modern decoration material; while others are paid too much attention to the protection of single ancient architecture, neglecting the reservation of the whole ancient village styles. These ancient villages are non-renewable treasures and culture wealth that our ancestors left to us. How to protect and study them in a new era is a problem we need to solve in front of us.Following the trend of times, the subject of this research is to provide a good theoretical base on how to strengthen and restore Furong Ancient Village. By taking Furong village as the point of entry, which located in the middle reaches of Nanxi River scenic in Rock town, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province; it has a on-the-spot investigation on more than 50 Ming and Qing Dynasty architecture, including houses, ancestral halls, pavilions, pools, yards, walls, doors and so on. What's more, by analyzing and studying the current village style, constructer condition and decoration way, it mainly makes an elementary estimate of Furong construction quality. Based on giving the suggestion of combining the protection and development of current village style, this subject also takes the future tourism development of ancient village into consideration. Moreover, through the investigation of Furong tradition ancient architecture, it provides a base of guidance for the protection and development of other ancient village in the middle reaches of Nanxi River.
