With computer entering classroom, it has dramatically changed the way English listening and speaking is taught and learnt. With the popularization of personal computer, multimedia, software programs, the internet, and DIY courseware all add to the growth of multimedia teaching.This paper starts with an overview of behaviorism, constructivism, the Input Hypothesis, and humanism, gives a comparative study of traditional mode of teaching English listening and speaking mode and multimedia mode using such instruments as questionnaire, experiment, and interview, and finally describes the limitations of the research at same time offering suggestions.
