Contrastive Studies On Interrogative Pronouns "Zenme" "Zenyang" "Zenmeyang"

The meanings of Contemporary Chinese"zenme""zenyang""zenmeyang"are close to each other. As interrogative pronouns, they are used frequently and variously in performance. The achievement of studies on interrogative pronouns in the grammar study system of Contemporary Chinese has already been abundant, but until now, there is no scholar who is studying comprehensively, systematically and technically on these three interrogative pronouns, what's more, the foreign students are confused when they are using these three words. According to these realities, and combining other scholars'monographs and various of dictionaries in this field with the interrelated knowledge that we have grasped, this paper attempts to make contrastive studies in detail on the similarities and differences among"zenme""zenyang""zenmeyang".This paper takes the three dimensional grammar as the guideline, which are carried out one by one. It includes 5 chapters and the contents can be summed as followings: The first part is the introduction. It mainly introduces the situations of the researching on"zenme""zenyang""zenmeyang"by former scholars and analyzes its merit and deficiency, which establishes foundation for the following text writing. Then in the second part, this paper puts emphasis on their similarities and differences of syntax which includes four sides: classification, function, matches and overlap. The third part mainly analyzes their semantics from two aspects: interrogative use and non-interrogative use. The interrogative use is analyzed from manner, reason, character and condition, while the non-interrogative use from rhetorical question mood, all-inclusive nature and indefinite nature. It concludes their forms and features in different semantic expressions. In addition, it shows that their semantic expressions have close relation with their syntax structures. In the following part, the paper makes a contrast on pragmatics."Zenme"and"zenmeyang"are mostly used in spoken language, while"zenyang"usually used as a written word and especially found in the article title. Besides, it analyzes their inquiring semantic functions and non-inquiring semantic functions.
