In the 21st century, with the development of the global economy, the communication between different countries has been getting more and more important. Thus it is imperative for us to take some measures to solve the language problem. Improving the teaching method of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language is one of such measures. It is the variety of the world's languages that leads to the comparability of these languages. Comparative linguistics works at this kind of study and has a positive influence on Teaching Chinese as a Second Language.Comparative Linguistics is originated from the western countries, which is also spread and applied greatly in China, especially in the field of contrastive studies on Chinese grammar and English grammar. It is the best way to improve the teaching of both foreign language and second language. Moreover, it is able to help students study target language and overcome negative transfer from their own language.Contrastive analysis is applied to study language, which is a symbol system withcertain sound images and meanings. The whole paper is divided into four chapters as follows:Introduction: to introduce theory of contrastive analysis, to talk about the purpose and significance of this study.Chapter1: to make a comparison between Chinese lexis and English lexisChapter2: to make a comparison between Chinese syntax and English syntaxChapter3: to find out similarity between Chinese and EnglishChapter4: to analyze the errors found in the grammar teaching of Teaching Chinese as a Second LanguageConclusion: summary and generalization of this paper...
