David Lodge In China

Being renowned for his contribution in fiction criticism and creation, David Lodge is one of the most outstanding contemporary British authors.7 novels, 1 short story, 2 thesis collections, 1 fiction treaties and several thesis were published since Chinese scholar Ruiwei Hou translated'Modernism,Antmodernism and Postmodernism'in 1983 for the first time in China. There are now more than 140 theses about this great author and scholars took study, analysis and gave explanations on Lodge from various aspects, but a lack of systematic study exists in particular there is a lack of introspection and retrospection based on current study basis. So by setting domestic study condition as a breakthrough point, covering all the thesis and writings of Chinese mainland, using literature research method, combining Lodge's theory treaties and fiction creation and referencing some foreign reviews and discussions, the author organized the main view points of scholars and their research findings in domestic researching field in a comprehensive, systematic and careful manner. This thesis is characterized in interpretable style research thesis and it is the author's wish that the thesis could improve the research situation.The thesis can be divided into 3 chapters.The first chapter is about the translation and promotion condition of David Lodge, including brief foreign translation remarks, translation situation their major domestic remarks, recommended articles and a portion of introductions on relevant writings. This chapter reveals the reason why David Lodge arose so much attention and raise great mass fervor. Domestic research methods were systematically classified.The second chapter is about the criticism theory research of David Lodge's fiction. It mainly discusses the theory research situation of Lodge and make a oriented analysis on the research of domestic scholars from the aspect of'fiction is also a kind of language art', metonymy and metaphor discourse mode in structuralism, Bakhtin's dialogue theory, fiction criticism theory and writing skills.The third chapter is about the research of David Lodge's fiction. The author classified these fictions based on 7 different domestic researcher's view point: research on the novels of schools, research of analyze the novel text rocky by using modem and contemporary literature theory, theme research, motif research, comparative research, research on Lodge's novels from Narrative Angle , research on art skill angle of fiction in postmodernism context.
