David Lodge is a eminent novelist and literature critic in England. He created thirteen novels and published more than ten collections of literary comments and thesis. David Lodge is famous for his special contribution in literature criticism and also popular with his successful novels which awarded many prizes. He has unique opinion about the art of novel, and made important contribution to novel criticism and the development of literature theory. Especially, his theoretical views and his literary works are complementary to each other. He used the literary theory in his novels consciously,and reflected on literary theory in his creative process.The paper includes foreword, text of four parts and epilogue.The foreword introduces David Lodge's life, creation of literary and research of literary theory. It also introduces David Lodge's achievements in all aspects and looks forward to the future of the research of David Lodge.In the text it summarizes the main theoretical views of David Lodge, which include his intertextuality theory, Pentulum Theory, dialogue theory speciality in novel and Text Game in novel. It reveals the basis and development of David Lodge's literary theory, and also analyses the literature creation of David Lodge, and contrastes his creation with his literary theory. David Lodge' intertextuality theory inclodes parody, implication, parallel structure and so on. The Pentulum Theory discusses the two literary phenomenons: modernism and antimodernism, which alternate in the history of literature. The dialogue theory in novel is base on the polyphony theory, includes the dialogue between different styles and voices and the dialogue between different cultures. Dialogism is a distinct feature of David Lodge' novel. The Text Game theory explains the relationship between game and fictionality of novel.
