Pronunciation is the physical shell of the language.The mastery of the correct English pronunciation is quite essential for the English learners. Accurate English pronunciation and tone not only can improve the listening, speaking, writing ablitiy, but also can influence the effect of the communication through the target language. Each language has its unique pronunciation system. There are also differences and similarities between every language system. However, people study another foreign language will be inevitably influenced by their national or regional pronunciation pattern, they use the way of ariculating their regional language to pronounce the target language. For most Benxi students, in order to master the correct English pronunciation, they should get to know the similarities and differences between Benxi dialects and English pronunciation systems. On the base of the differences, overcome the negative influence of the mother language on the English pronunciation. Based on the similarites, facilitate the students to master the same pronunciation and distinguish the similar ones.Through the method of field-recording of the English pronunciation of 30 Benxi students, this thesis analyzes the characters of Benxi dialects, the similarities and differences among English, Chinese Putonghua and Benxi dialects pronunciation system, thus displays the influence of Benxi dialcts over the acqusition of English pronunciation. First, from the aspect of vowel, the negatvie influence of Benxi dialects over the diphthongs, long and short monophthongs of English is more prominent. Second, at the level of consonants, Benxi students do not have a clear idea of the retroflex sound and flat tongue in their dialects, so they always confused the English palatal alveolar and alveolar consonants; there are some consonants that do not exist in Chinese or Benxi dialects such as/(?)/, /(?)/,/v/posing difficult for Benxi students. This thesis mainly analyzes the negative transfer of the influence of Benxi dialect on the acquisition of English pronunciation, and the causes of the influence. Some methods and countermeasures are put forward to solve the English pronunciation problems of Benxi students.
