The literary concept of a particular age excludes Eileen Chang from literary reception, which makes her as one of a forgotten writer in three decades after the foundation of PRC. Entering a new period, Eileen Chang, with the political, social and cultural change, is beginning to be accepted and classically explained by researchers and readers with, began to accept and gradually Classic explained. Based on this, this thesis aims to sort out Eileen Chang's image since the new period and to explore why Eileen Chang is reconstructed in the new era and even is represented colorful image. On the foundation of archeology, this thesis investigating Eileen Chang's new image reconstruction process by analyzing Eileen Chang's reception.This thesis is divided into four chapters.Chapter 1 summarizes Eileen Chang's reception state before new period, serving as the background of "reconstruction". Section 1 overviews Eileen Chang's reception situation on the mainland from her becoming-famous age (in the forties) to the fifties. Section 2, with the name "overseas study of Eileen Chang between the 1960s to 1980s", chooses Xia Zhiqing's History of Modern Chinese Fiction as case study and analyzes the ideology which is represented by aesthetics in his book. This kind of ideology, partly conspiring with ideological culture on mainland within the 80s, affects the image reconstruction since new period.Chapter 2 discusses Eileen Chang's reconstruction in subjectivity thought in the 1980s. Section 1 explains the reason why Eileen Chang is reconstructed in new era and describes her study in 1980s from the cultural and literary environment. Section 2 analyzes the formation and characteristics of Eileen Chang image (literature reality). Section 3, taking Meng Yue, Dai Jinhua's Floating History Surface-Modern Female's Literature Study as the case, analyzes female reality-Eileen Chang's image and its "uncompletence".Chapter 3 chooses Eileen Chang's pop culture image in the nineties, to illustrate how she is re-understood in modern waves in the nineties and walks to classic status. Section 1 explains Eileen Chang's "modernity" has been realized and its reason. Section 2 aims to choose urban culture study which her image and cultural meaning behind the idea.In the fourth chapter, we analyzed image of Zhang Ailing reconstructed by popular culture in new century. This chapter consists of two parts as follows:1) as the movie "Lust, Caution" original from Zhang Ailing novel for a example, we explore how the image changes occurred in popular culture according to reading the book and the movie in detail.2) taking the last novel written by Zhang Ailing "reunion" for example, "reunion" not only have academic significance, but also is the combination of academic and cultural business intentionally or not which make Zhang Ailing'best seller'in period of popular culture.Since Zhang Ailing literature come into the field of reading and was researched from 80s, there have been a lot of researches on Zhang Ailing. However, there were few research highlights. Most of them describe accepted Zhang Ailing literature and explore the reasons simple, but the analysis about cultural backgrounds implicated in her literature has not been completely explained. So the point of this paper is to deeply explore cultural deposits reconstructed thoughts of Zhang Ailing and have a review on research of Zhang Ailing, as well as make a sketch about culture in new century.
