Cooperative Learning is known for being the most important and successful teaching reform in recent decades. It's a form of student-centered teaching which encourages group activities, and it is widely applied to the field of education. Though a large quantity of theoretic and practical studies have been carried out in China, the application and exploration in secondary vocational schools are quite limited.The study looks into the issue of how to apply the model of cooperative learning to improve the effect of English class teaching in secondary vocational school through two questionnaires, three face-to-face interviews, two period tests, teaching video and the form of classroom observation. The findings are:the model of cooperative learning which is guided by advanced teaching idea and meets the needs of vocational school students can not only improve the students'cultural attainments but develop their positive attitudes and values such as the consciousness of cooperation and competition. The conclusion we draw from the study is that the model of cooperative learning can make class teaching very effective, which is composed of task assignment, independent thinking, group work, task check, question explanation, data statistics.This paper is divided into eight chapters:the background and aims of the research, literature review, the strategies and evaluation styles of cooperative learning, the model and evaluation style of cooperative learning in secondary vocational school, research methods, statistics and analysis, research results and suggestions, conclusion and reflection.
