Interlanguage Pragmatics (ILP) is a branch of Pragmatics, which is an interdiscipline between Pragmatic and Second Language Acquisition. Since 1990s, researches abroad on ILP have mostly focused on issues such as pragmatic perception, speech acts production, pragmatic transfer, communicative effect, etc., while the researches at home on ILP have been interested in the theoretical introductions rather than empirical studies. Thus the research findings at home are not as plentiful as they are abroad.Based on what has been reported by previous studies home and abroad, this thesis explores the Interlanguage Pragmatic developmental patterns of three groups of EFL (English as a foreign language) learners. The aim is to study the pragmatic competence developmental conditions and their affective factors, especially the influence of their linguistic proficiency, social background and pragmatic transfer.Based on the related literature home and abroad, this study is carried out in the following three steps.1. Test task construction.2. Data Collection.3. Data analysis. The Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS V13.0) is drawn asthe tool for data analysis. The aim of this study is to probe Chinese students'interlanguage pragmatic development. In the last part of this thesis, the further explanation of Chinese English learners' interlanguage pragmatic competence development pattern has been introduced by the comparison between the participants' utterance and the native speakers'utterance. Base on the above findings, some pedagogical implication for the foreign language teaching, English in particular, has been drawn, and the limitations and the further studies are considered.
