Huang Ren is a famous poet in Yongfu town of Fujian province between the reign of Emperor KangXi and Emperor Qianlong of the Qing dynasty. Huang Ren who revelled in inkstone and built a special room to store his inkstones called himself Mr.Inkstone. He wrote many literary compositions all his life, but certain compositions are no longer extant. The extant compositions include random notes on classical poets and poetry named Poetic Book of Refreshing Summer and peotry anthology such as Qiu Jiang Poems, Xiang Cao Study's Poems, Xiang Cao Study's Excerpted Poems, which all have annotated edition. Huang Ren's poetry is greeted by many poets and reviewers from Qing Dynasty to modern times. However, scholars haven't pay enough attention to the study of Huang Ren yet, thus there is only a few studies on Huang Ren at present,and the present study is lack of comprehensive and detailed analysis. This paper conducts textual criticism on aspects of the course of Huang Ren's life, Huang Ren's extraction, writing and replying in poems between Huang Ren and his friends, edition of compositions and solves some debatable problems of the course of Huang Ren's life. And then this paper generalizes Huang Ren's idea of poetics from Poetic Book of Refreshing Summer and his poems relevant to the topic of discussing poets and poetry. In addition, this paper analyzes the creation, artistic characteristics and standing of Huang Ren's poetry. In general this paper makes a comprehensive and detailed study of Huang Ren, including the course of life, extraction, writing and replying in poems between Huang Ren and his friends, compositions and the versions of them, poetry creation and the artistic features of Huang Ren's poetry,the comment on Huang Ren's poemtry,and the poetry history position of Huang Ren's poetry.
