Under the circumstances,Huang rejected to participate in political affairs but to devote his energy to reading poems, analysing poems and composing poems, hoping to ameliorate people’s temperament and to made contribution to political scene. In the second chapter, the author discusses Huang Jie’s Yue-Fu theory which expressed in The annotation of Han and Wei dynasties’Yue-Fu allegorical poetry.Huang Jie classified Han and Wei dynasties’Yue-Fu allegorical poetry into Feng,Ya and Song, which dirived from The Book of Songs.Huang considered the songs of Xianghe and Zaqu to be similar to the songs of Feng in The Book of Songs. This thought originated from Maoshi Xu and Zhu Zhixi’s Yue-Fu Guang Xu.Zhu’s book explained the poems by writing introductions, and pointed out the moral factors in the poems.Huang Jie agreed with Zhu’s opinions and emphasized the moral factors of these poems in order to express his comment on social reality.Besides,Huang Jie probed into the evolution of Yue-Fu poetry during the Han and Wei Dynasties. He held the opinion that the most valuable character of Yue-Fu poetry in Han Dynasty was the building of the special institution Yue-Fu to collect songs from the whole society. In Wei Dynasty, the aristocracy turned the Yue-Fu poetry from popular songs into author’s poems, but the moral factors still preserved. In Song Dynasty, the imitation works of Yue-Fu focused just on appearance and form,so the most valuable characters of Yue-Fu poetry had been losted.Huang Jie’s book is a important work about Yue-Fu poetry in mordern academic history.Huang Jie’s student Xiao Difei wrote the book The History of Yue-Fu poetry of Han and Wei and Six Dynasties, which developed Huang Jie’s opinions, was also a outstanding work about Yue-Fu poetry in moedern academic world.
