This thesis based on monster images in the Ming dynasty novels as research object summarizes overall characteristic of the monster images of the Ming dynasty novels though concrete analysis of main types of the monster images. It also discuss their cultural connotations, literary aesthetic value.The thesis is divided into four chapters.The first chapter, the concept of the monster and evolution of the monster images before Ming dynasty. First, reference prodect persons in monster definition, combining with the image of Ming dynasty works,"monster"is defined as "monster, also called gremlins, goblins, refined charm, is a supernatural power which existences in people's concept , often original shape is the animal,plant or inanimate object and is of supernatural ability or the personification-rization. Then, a simple comb to monster images in literature works before Ming is as a foundation to discuss it in the Ming dynasty novels.In the second chapter, it aims to analysis the monster image in the Ming dynasty novels. According to their prototype category, monster image are divided into animal ones, plant ones,inanimate object ones and unknown prototype ones,and it also makes an important analysis for concentrated or characteristic monster image in the four types. Based on the comparison with monster image of dynasty novels berore the Ming, to inductive overall characteristic of them in the Ming dynasty novels: the plant monster and inanimate object monster in Ming dynasty novels over the previous generation are significantly increased;the monster image overall present distinct regional characteristics, and are closely with public life; the monster image include three aspects which are physical ,properties, customs and demon method; the monster image are closely affiliated to religious.The third chapter, the cultural implication of the the monster images in Ming dynasty and legendary novels .They mainly include the realistic implication, religious implication, philosophical implication. Realistic connotation includes that the monster image reflect Ming grumous commercial breath and the Ming people's desire to be rich; show sensuality ethos in the late Ming dynasty; those writers praise the good or criticize the ugly to educate citizens though the monster images;They also reflect Ming dynasty social reality though them. Religious implication include that the monster images reflect confluent trend of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism in the Ming dynasty; perform the monk and tao help or harm people, reflecting the new characteristics of secularization of Buddhism and Taoism in the Ming; reflect karma thought, samsara reincarnation thoughts in the buddhist , Ming to enlightenment ideas in the Chan sect and etc.; reflect the Ming Taoism's Sex intraoperative and uniting the longevity. reflect folk sacrifice and the popular of"wutong"belief in the Ming.Philosophical implication specifies that the monster images of the Ming dynasty novels contains a unique monster sajoro idea, such as devil bi, physical, spiritual sense of pure girl today.as evildoers; etc. Meanwhile, the monster images still reflected rich humanistic connotations.The fourth chapter, the literary aesthetic value of the monster images of the Ming dynasty novels. The monster images reflect mutual aesthetic characteristicsof confluence of the beauty and ugliness.and are with "fantasy" artistic style and "unreal boxing true" aesthetic pursuit. In addition, they also bring cheerful aesthetic enjoyment.
