A Study On The Monsters’ Images In The Mythical Novels During Qian Long Period

Monsters,have become the eternal and relish topic at all times and in all over the world.The concepts of animism and the immortality of souls,all reflect the adoration and faith of human for the monsters.In China,a civilized country with long history of development,this kind of phenomenon are even more common.Apart from the famous weird stories,there are also countless strange novels.Qianlong Dynasty,is another peak of the strange novels following the Han,Wei and Six Dynasties.For a time,writing the strange novels had become the trend.There are countless strange and mysterious novels.The article intends to make a comprehensive analysis of the ten fictions which were written in Qianlong Dynasty,they are Ye tan sui lu,Zi bu yu,Zi bu yu sequel,Ying chuang yi cao,Xie duo,Ting yu xuan bi ji,Er shi lu,Er shi lu sequel,Liu he nei wai suo yan and Xiao dou peng.The author tried her best to show the types of the monster and analyze the features as well as the cultural implications in them.The article is divided into six parts:The first part is the introduction.It explains the subject and the significance,research status and research methods and innovation point of the topic.The second part examines tenth mythical novels which published in the Qianlong period,defines the "monster" and distinguishes it from ghosts and gods.The third part analyzes the main types of monster in the mythical novels during Qianlong period,which can be divided into animals,plants and nonliving matter.The fourth part expounds the salient features of monsters in the mythical novels during the Qianlong period.It is divided into a great variety and magical powers,be reality and prominent personality,be educated and reasonable,and prominent physical characteristics.The fifth part explores the cultural implication of the monster image in the mythical novels during the Qianlong period,which are respectively the folk connotation,the religious connotation and the aesthetic implication.The sixth part is conclusion.After analyzing all kinds of monsters’ images in the monster novels during the Qianlong period,the author gets the conclusion that monsters in the mythical novels of Qianlong period have their own unique qualities and connotations,which have the value and significance to be studied.
