In the year of 1928,a group of tombs,built in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, was unearthed in present Jin village of Pingle Town, Menjin County, Luoyang City, Henan Province, namely, the northeastern corner of ancient Luoyang city.Overseas significant studies and works on the utensils excavated in Jin village includes Tombs of Old Lo-Yang by William Charles White and Collections of Anciant Tombs in Jin Village of Luoyang by Umehara Sueji.Domestic important studies include Chimes of Biao (Liu Jie),On the Biaoqiang Chimes (Tang Lan), Explanations of Inscriptions on Biaoqiang Chimes (Wen Tingjing), Collected Explanations of Inscriptions on Biaoqiang Chimes (Sun Zhichu), On Phrasing of Inscriptions on Biaoqiang Chimes (Zhu Dexi),Zhe Dao Chimes (Dong Chuping), Proofreading and Annotating Inscriptions of Zhe Dao Chimes (He Linyi), Explanations of Inscriptions on Zhe Dao Chimes (Rao Zongyi),Attestment and Explanaitons of Zhe Dao Inscriptions (Guo Moruo), The Word of "Zhong" in the Warring States Era (Li Jiahao),The Weired Characters Containing You as a Component in the Warring States Period and Qin-Han Dynasty as well as Its Related Problems (Huang Shengzhang),Comparative Analysis of Square Kettles Excavated in Jin Village of Luoyang (Zhu Dexi),and Food Officials-Related Inscriptions on Brass Ware in the Warring States Period (Zhu Dexi).On the basis of the scholars'studies and explorations,we can basically read and understand the inscriptions carved on the utensils and inscriptions Unearthed in Jin VillageThe thesis is composed of two parts.In the first part, the researcher gives collected explanations to the cutlery and utensils unearhted in Jin village.According to their nationalities, the cultery and utensils are classified into Zhou Kingdom's utensils,Han Kingdom's utensils,Yue Kingdom's untensils, Ch'in Dynasty's utensils. In addiion, other types of classfications are also recommended.For example, Sike square kettles belong to Eastern Zhou Dynasty, Biaoqiang Bell to Han kingdom, Linghu Jun Kettle to Wei Kingdom, Zhe Bell to Yue Kingdom, lacquer goblet to Qin Dynasty, etc.In the part of collected explanations, comments upon works are arranged in order of time so as to have a better understanding of inscriptions.Apart from the collected explanations,notes are also added. We assimilate the good results of the previous studie as well and attest them with newly-unearthed ancient ancient writings.As for those we are unable to explain,the present study leaves the question open and to be explored.The second part is about the graphs, rubbings and copies of untensils and incriptions excavated in Jin village of Luoyang city and gives their provenience as well.
