Region cultures are and will be always inseperable component parts of the general culture. With special styles and charming charisma, different region cultures relentlessly seek their spread and development through mass media nowadays, which is the reason that we can always feel the ghost of these region cultures. In the course of the development of television series, or TS, we can see clearly how deep the mediumization of culture is. In different types of media for the dissemination and preservation of region cultures, TS is the most noticable one. As a way to catering for cultural needs of people, TS is an inevitable channel for the dissemination of region cultures. We start our study of the situation of the dissemination of region cultures in mass media through TS in the perspective of region cultures.Research on TS in the perspective of region cultures, which is helpful for us to discuss how to preserve and disseminate region cultures, means we mainly discuss the elements of region cultures appearing in TS which are dominant factors disseminated by mass culture communication. It is easier for us to make predictions about the possibilities of the dissemination of region cultures through TS by means of listing elements of region cultures systematically in TS, which is an important way to disseminate region cultures, and searching for possible future courses of Region cultures through TS.There are several booms of regional schools: Bashu,Jing,Guanzhong and GuandongTS in the realm of TS recently. There is a deep connection between region cultures and lasting concerns of viewers from all over the country which are aroused by one or two TS belonging to their own region cultures respectively. Generally speaking, in this broad territory, the more powerful the writing industry or literature industry is, the more prosperous the TS industry is; the more prosperous the region culture is, the more regional characteristics the TS have, the more artistic quality the TS have. Disregarding the advantage of Beijing as the centre of culture, it is nearly a verdict, which even can not be weakened by Shanghai, which is the biggest industrial and commercial city in China. There are four parts as follows in the dissertation:The first chapter discusses the relationship between objects of study and region cultures. We discuss the characteristics of TS, which are called"TS with region cultures", or TSRC in short later, which are in the perspective of region cultures and the scope of study objects which will be explained later in detail in the first part. In the second part, we disscuss roughly related contents of region cultures which are comprised of several parts which can be listed as follows in detail: what is the region culture; what is the cause of formation and the patterns of materialization of the region culture; what is the influence of the region culture on TS and how to influence them; what are the characteristics of region culture in TSRC. We discuss the influences of region cultures on TS and cultural characteristics of these TS.The second chapter discuss the whole course of development of TSRC which can be divided into four phases to summarize. We sort out the booming situations of these TSRC and reasons for these situations and analyze what is the reasonable attitude to the phenomenon for viewer who are affected by mass media.The third chapter are several case studies on several TS in regional schools. We make demonstrations of related characteristics and courses of development of objects of study concluded from former two chapters and make complements to our conclusions to some degree. In some sections, we discuss the influence of TS of its school on the dissemination and development of its own region culture and the expression styles of regional characteristics of its school, etc.The last chapter discuss the current situation and the possible futures of TSRC and give ideas and conceptions about the preservation and dissemination of region cultures by means of TS. Then we make a premonition of the future of TSRC.
