The Writing Of The Regional Culture In Chi Li's Novels

Chi Li has been writing constantly,and has made great achievements in poetry,prose,novels and so on,contributed a lot of popular works for the readers.Chi Li is a native writer from Hubei Province,and most of her works take Hubei(mainly Wuhan)as the background and take the life of various characters of Wuhan as the main description object,showing the readers the life of citizens and their love and hate,with the characteristics of regional culture.The regional culture in literature was noticed and discussed by scholars as early as the beginning of the twentieth century,and it is the key point that cannot be ignored in the study of literary creation.Those works which have made great achievements or gained good reputation in the literary world cannot leave the nourishment of unique regional culture.Therefore,the analysis of the regional cultural characteristics in the novel is also the angle and aspect of the increasing enthusiasm when researching the writers' works.This thesis centers on the writing of the regional culture in Chi Li's novels,which consists of three parts:The first chapter is the reflection of Wuhan in Chi Li's novels.First,it is to grasp the natural environment and social environment of Wuhan as a whole,on the basis of which to explore the appearance of Wuhan in Chi Li' works.Second,through reading the text in detail and understanding the writer's life experience,the author makes an analysis of the description of the reality of city life in Wuhan in terms of its earthliness in Chi Li's novel,which was illustrated through the image of the city,climate,people's living habits and other aspects.Third,the author further integrates the various relationships between Wuhan history and the present life in the novels,sorts out the development of Wuhan and analyzes the writers' memories of the historical changes in Wuhan.Chi Li has merged herself personally with the city of Wuhan and her creations.The second chapter is the description of Wuhan people's characters.Based on the overall analysis of citizens' personality under the life reflected by the individual and the family in Wuhan,the author takes the typical characters in the specific text as representatives to explore the similar parts of Wuhan people's personality related to the region.Most of Wuhan people written by Chi Li are steady and responsible,whether handling with household chores or their work on the job.Moreover,they are mostly straightforward,righteous and sincere,while they also show a lofty but delicate character.It is said that the unique features of a local environment always give special characteristics to its inhabitants.Wuhan has raised various kinds of people,likewise,the different characters also add the new humanities spirit for Wuhan.The third chapter is the local customs of Wuhan embodied in Chi Li's novels.In many of Chi Li's novels,people can see more detailed descriptions of Wuhan food,ships,houses,etc.,many of which comprehensively and meticulously show the readers a unique lifestyle of Wuhan.In some texts,Chi Li also interspersed some of the customs of Wuhan and kept the unique dialect of Wuhan,made Wuhan people and their life can be vividly shown for the readers.Through the refinement and analysis of these aspects,it is beneficial to better grasp and expand the study of the regional culture in Chi Li's novels.
