Study On The Distinguish Of Novel Theory Aesthetic Value In Late Qing Dynasty

The novel-writing in Late Qing Dynasty and Early Republic of China tend to be more diversifiedand more complicated than before. Novels became one of the most active forms of literary expression in the period. With the development of novels, thoughts and aesthetic theories changed as well and formed several schools. Based on the basic facts and information of novels of the period, the paper tries to sort out the opinions of the main schools in the period and explain in a systematic way. In general, the main opinions in the period were shown in the form of Utilitarianism Aesthetics, Amusement Aesthetics and Non-utilitarianism Aesthetics.The theory of Utilitarianism Aesthetics emphasizes the interaction of literature and politics, and the thesis is to discuss the culture base of Utilitarianism Aesthetics as well as the origin of Utilitarianism Aesthetics form, according to several aspects such as native literary materials and the influence of western literature. Meanwhile, there are some discussions about motivation from political and economical aspects, analyses of evolvement with the trend of Utilitarianism and comments from literary aspect.Amusement Aesthetics is formed in order to represent the culture of consumer society which pursues pleasures in a life of luxury and dissipation. To an extent, Non-utilitarianism Aesthetics, which is grounded on criticism, is a kind of refutation as well as a thought of Utilitarianism Aesthetics and Amusement Aesthetic. Non-utilitarianism Aesthetics leans to the novel's purity, aesthetic value and artistry, which requires the novel-writing strictly follow the literary purpose, and correctly deal with the relationships between literature and politics, literature and amusement, for literary appreciation. Different Aesthetics opinions reflect not only the features of transitional period of Chinese modern literature, but also the effect of different knowledge resources and problems in the process of Chinese Aesthetics modernization.The development and evolvement of novel-writing theories in Late Qing Dynasty and Early Republic of China has offered support to Chinese novel practice in theory and enriched the literary thoughts in China, which lay the foundation for the great-leap-forward development of novels. As the process of social development is not an isolated development, the development in economical and political areas inevitably has influences on Literature and Aesthetics. Based on the fact, here, the thesis tries to reference related literature materials with the purpose of proving the opinion and enlarging the range of literary theory and Aesthetics materials.
