Agatha Christie is the most famous crime fiction writer and playwright. She was also a representative detective fiction writer in the classical period and was called as the queen of detective. Her fiction's circulation has become the Top three worldwide bestseller following the Bible and Shakespeare's plays. This thesis mainly made research on the crime and punishment in Agatha Christie's Miss Marple series of detective fiction. Through close reading and macro analysis, this thesis focuses on discussing characteristic of crime and punishment in this series' detective fiction, including writer's thinking for life.The whole thesis has six chapters. The first chapter introduces Agatha Christie and Miss Marple series of detective fiction, as well as updated researches at home and abroad. Base on domestic research on Agatha Christie works'existing problems, it discusses the feasibility of close reading and macro analysis on Agatha Christie's Miss Marple series of detective fiction. Chapter two analyses Agatha Christie's observation and Lenovo, dialogues way of promoting story development, using hints to build suspense according to the way of presenting crime in this fiction series. Relating with Agatha Christie's living experience, chapter three discusses three criminal types including encroaching other property, adultery and homicide. The chapter four makes remark on these criminals'inescapable and unresisting punishment. No matter how struggling the criminals are, they cannot escape from the punishment. Through presenting criminal and punishment in Agatha Christie's Miss Marple series of detective fiction, chapter five claims her creation idea that human nature is good. Chapter six is conclusion of this thesis.This thesis analyses writer's living experience and relationship with this work by discussing Agatha Christie's Miss Marple series of detective fiction. Agatha Christie hoped that readers could pay more attention on victims. The criminal and punishment presenting in her works are aim for arousing reader's kind and pity for victims, claiming the good of human nature.
