This paper studies the components of Chinese students studying in the United States and the influence to society of China in the late Qing Dynasty (1872-1911). As a communication bridge between Chinese and western culture, Chinese students studying in the United States are not only practitioners of Western learning,but also the backbone introducing Western learning to the east. After returning to China, many of them went into the social change of the late Qing Dynasty, forming the mainstay. A great number of modern bourgeois democratic revolutionary, educators and scientists had come to the fore; they had a great contribution to modernization of China, which has great influence on the afterworld.There are three components of the content, the outlines are as follows:The first part, exploring the identity structure of Chinese students studying in the United States in the late Qing Dynasty, aims to go over and explain the identity structure and origin of Chinese students studying in the United States in the late Qing DynastyThe second part, discussing reasons of Chinese students going to study in the United States in late Qing Dynasty, focuses on the reasons why the government sent young students to the United States, the promotion of the new deal of late Qing Dynasty to studying in the United States, and the causes of the formation of the tide of "Boxer Indemnity" students going to study in the United States.The third part focuses on the social influence on the modern Chinese society of Chinese students studying in the United States in the late Qing Dynasty after returning to China. It discusses the profound influence of Chinese students in the United States to the modern society from the aspects of politics, economy, cul studying ture, education, science and technology.
